Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and what FLOWERCORE is all about?

I’m a songwriter and composer living in Scotland. I’ve written songs inspired by wildflowers. FLOWERCORE brings these songs live on stage, accompanied by visual projections

The show was inspired by a personal wildflower diary you kept while walking in the Scottish countryside with your dog. How was the process of transforming those personal diary entries into a stage show?

I’m incredibly grateful to Made in Scotland, who’ve made this journey possible! This is FLOWERCORE’s first fringe show. I live in Glasgow, and the biggest hurdle when putting together a fringe show is finding a venue because there are millions of shows on at this time of year. Thankfully, I’m incredibly lucky that FLOWERCORE is in an intimate basement venue right bang in the centre of town, which makes it really easy to get to. Part of the creative collaborative process is having live visuals during the show, and finding the right venue (that’s nice and dark with no natural light) was really important.

FLOWERCORE mixes live music with beautiful visuals of Scottish nature. What do you hope audiences will feel when they step into this immersive world?

I hope that it can listen to songs inspired by nature in a little corner of nature in the busy Edinburgh Fringe afternoon.

You have lived and performed in places like Paris and New York, but now you are bringing this world premiere to Edinburgh! How does it feel to share your story at the Fringe?

I’m extremely grateful to get to play in Scotland because wildflowers taught me that I can be inspired by what’s very near to me. If we look hard enough, we can find a lot of beauty and inspiration at hand. Wildflowers grow in cities and countryside, i know that many people in Edinburgh and Scotland have a connection with flowers and love seeing wildflowers pop up every year. It also means I don’t have to get on a plane!!!

What are you most excited about when it comes to bringing this specific show to the Fringe audience?

Really excited to sing harmonies on stage with incredible vocalists Niamh Corkey and Charm of Finches because our vocals intertwine harmoniously. I feel excited about sharing my story with wildflowers for the first time.

If you had to describe the show in only three words to make people eager to come and see it, what would they be?

  1. Songs

  2. Flowers

  3. Belonging
