Interview with Bree Smith, standby for Tina Turner in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

Bree Smith is a West End performer known for playing Aunt Em and Glinda in the national tour of The Wiz, Dinah in The Scottsboro Boys, as well as appearing in Scrooge the Musical, The Book of Mormon in the West End, and Dick Whittington at the National Theatre.

Currently, Bree is the standby for Tina Turner in the touring production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. We sat down to talk about her time in the show and what it's like to be a standby, navigating the challenge of never knowing exactly when you will be on stage.

“I’m not copying what she’s doing; I’m doing my own version of telling her story, while keeping her truth.”
